Course overview

The BA (Hons) Top-Up in Business (Marketing) is for those who have completed an HND in Business Marketing and will enable you to achieve a full Undergraduate Honours Degree in Business.

Innovative professionals who are equipped with the skills set required to analyse the environment, identify opportunities and make bold decisions that will differentiate their organisation from competitors, drive today’s dynamic business environment.

The BA (Hons) in Business Marketing Top-Up programme is designed to encourage the development of these essential skills. You will learn how to critically evaluate key business models and apply them to a real-life problem at a strategic level by conducting your very own research project.

Graduation is usually held every summer in June/July and is currently held at Coventry Cathedral.

Duration study load

  •  12 – 36 months

This varies depending on your rate of progress – you can access modules at a pace that is convenient for you.

Once you have accessed a module, there is a minimum and maximum time that you will need to finish the module within.  Minimum 3 months can be extended to 6 months if you wish to defer.

Entry requirements

  • HND in Business (can include Finance, Marketing, HRM and Operations Business HND’s)
  • Entry to the specialisms requires the applicant to have covered 30 credits in the specialist area to get direct entry. If the applicant is coming from a different specialism this would need to be assessed on a case by case basis and the additional modules may need to be studied. For example, if you wish to study a BA (Hons) Top-Up in Business you will need to have completed an HND in Business/Business Management

For students whose prior learning was not taught in English:

  • IELTS 6.0 or equivalent (no less than 5.5 in any element)

Course features

  • The degree top-up course has a good balance between academic and vocational content. It delivers a good grounding in management theory, whilst also preparing participants for a successful career
  • Graduates are more likely to be offered a position by an employer and are qualified for a wider range of opportunities. For these two reasons, there are many more job opportunities open to graduates than there are to individuals without a college education

Delivery

You will be provided with a Tutor who will provide feedback on every assessment you submit.

You will also have access to ilearn which includes the following:

  1. Your induction
  2. Your modules – once you have successfully completed the induction quiz. This includes module materials, lessons and assessment details
  3. Resources such as online electronic libraries and support information (user guides, links rules and regulations, contact details, your student handbook)
  4. Discussion forums and messaging facility
  5. My notebook – you can make notes within each lesson and these will be collated and accessible from the ‘My Notebook’ link at the top of each module page

  • Understand the external environment in which organisations operate, locally, nationally and internationally and its impact upon the strategy, behaviour, management and sustainability of organisations including how they are managed wherever they are
  • Recognise the importance of individual and corporate behaviours and cultures which exist within and between organisations and their influence upon the external environment
  • Analyse the internal aspects of organisations, their functions and processes including their diverse nature, purposes, structures, governance, operations and management, together with the individual and corporate behaviours and cultures which exist within and between organisations and their influence upon the external environment
  • Apply a range of theoretical management concepts, models and processes to decision-making in the organisation and future planning, practical organisational or industry sector issues or problems, displaying sensitivity to differing cultural and ethical contexts in decision making

Payment options

Course fees – £4,275

Fees will be paid direct to Arden University once the application process has been completed

Payment options

  • In Full: £4,275 (UK students – if you are none UK please contact us to confirm fees)
  • Pay as you go: £4,500 Paid as three instalments of £1,500 (UK students only)

The first two Instalments cover 40 credits (2 modules each) and the final instalment covers the 40 credit dissertation at the end.

Funding

You can support your study in a variety of ways.

If you are a UK student, the most common funding of undergraduate degrees is a Tuition Fee loan from the UK Government. You would need to apply directly to Student Finance for this. The key information about these loans is:

  • You must be a UK resident
  • You can get a loan to cover the full cost of  your tuition fees
  • You only start to pay it back when you are earning over £25,000 a year
  • Your tuition fees are paid directly to the University by the loan company
