These qualifications will help you develop the underpinning knowledge and work skills you require to competently work towards or carry out the role of Assistant Youth Support Worker at Level 2.
Once you have completed your studies, you will have an industry-recognised qualification, and you will be able to confidently support the personal and social education of young people in paid employment or working as part of the voluntary sector in the UK.

Duration study load
4-6 months involving 4 monthly teaching days (or 8 evening sessions) plus assessment time and independent study.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, but you must be aged over 18.
We recommend that you have a good command of literacy and numeracy before enrolling on these courses. We can provide support for this through our programme of online and classroom study for English, Maths and ICT.
You need to be regularly working directly with young people between the ages of 11 to 25 and have the support of an organisation throughout your study.
All new entrants to the youth work sector must be willing to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check; you can not start studying until you have proof of this.
Pathways
- Level 2 Award in Youth Work Practice
Assessment
- For the Level 2 Award, you will need to gain 11 credits from 4 mandatory units.
Learners who achieve the Level 2 Award in Youth Work Practice may wish to complete additional units to obtain the Level 2 Certificate in Youth Work Practice.
Assessment for each level will be through the completion of a digital e-portfolio of evidence, workbook study tasks and evaluation of learning.
