The SEG Awards Level 3 Certificate in Social Prescribing is a nationally recognised qualification. It prepares learners for a role in social prescribing and provides those already working in this area with a deeper level of knowledge and understanding.
The content is based on key areas related to social prescribing environments, including delivering community-based solutions, offering vulnerable adults holistic support, managing caseloads and measuring outcomes to improve support mechanisms.

Duration study load
This qualification takes 7-9 months to complete and is delivered through classroom-based teaching days, online e-portfolio, independent study and assessment of learning. The full qualification is awarded once all units and coursework are completed and passed.
Each month, we host a full day’s training which includes a morning session devoted to teaching and learning the subject topic, with the afternoon given over to an Action Learning Set. This allows guest speakers, tutorials on work to be completed, and learner case study presentations to explore best practices.

Entry requirements
There are no formal qualification requirements but participants must be aged 18 and over, with the ability to study at level 3 (E.g. GCSE in English & Maths at C or Grade 4 and above). An initial assessment will be required at the start of the programme and a learning adviser will discuss this in more detail with you.
Assessment
The qualification will be awarded to learners who successfully achieve all four of the mandatory units and three out of the five optional units within the qualification, under the Rules of Combination, by meeting the specified Assessment Criteria.
- To achieve this qualification the learner must complete 21 credits; 12 credits from the mandatory group and a further 9 credits from the optional group.
- You will need to gather a portfolio of evidence, made up of group work tasks, assignments, personal reflections, case studies and research.
- For each module, there will be a workbook and study tasks to help you achieve this.
- It would be advantageous if you have some personal work experience to draw on, but it’s not essential for this course.
- Your work will be assessed and internally moderated to ensure you meet all the assessment criteria laid down by the awarding body, to receive your final qualification and certificate from SEG Awards.
Who's it for?
The SEG Awards Level 3 Certificate in Social Prescribing is aimed primarily at those working within or looking to move to a role where elements of social prescribing are used as part of their work. This includes areas such as healthcare, local government and the voluntary and community sector. It will enable learners to broaden their skills and knowledge in social health and well-being work and to support individuals to access services in the community that are appropriate to their needs.
