Java is a coding language used to develop and create web applications. It is a high-level programming language that is similar to C++. It is used by over 9 million developers worldwide and is vital to running many software, games, and desktop and mobile apps. Java has an extensive skill gap, but its popularity has grown due to its ease of use. Beginners will still have fun learning the ropes of Java through Java courses online, but they will enjoy it to its full extent once they have mastered it. Java files cannot be run directly by an operating system like Mac or Windows; they are instead opened by JVM (Java Virtual Machine). This is a plus because it means Java files are multi-platform; however JVM must be installed in order to actually run the file.
In the UK, the average salary for a Java developer is around £45,000 and can go as high as £66,000. So where can Java take you? Once you have completed a course in Java and feel confident in your ability, you can chase a career in the following:
• Application Development
Using the Java programming language within this job is involved within all components including creating, testing and editing Java applications.
• Web Development
Whilst some companies use other popular programming languages, JavaScript is amongst the common list of full-time web development work.
• Software Testing
Software testing may not require a high level of programming skills, but online courses and having credited Java training is definitely recommended.
• Software Development
Similar to application development, Java language can be included within this line of work to develop software that allows people to do specific tasks or you are able to create an underlying system that runs a device or controls a network.

There are many Java courses online that range from beginner level to expert and can help you obtain an entry-level job in Java-developing once you have completed them and listed them on your CV. Java programming courses range in price – some are cheap, some are expensive and some are free, so it is important to do research before you commit yourself to one. Most courses are self-paced, meaning you can work your learning around your busy schedule. Some training courses also offer to teach HTML coding as well, which can be paired with Java when developing websites.
Explore the Java courses online that are offered and see which ones interest you, and which ones will take you that step closer to a career involving Java and all its capabilities.
It’s important to bear in mind that Java and JavaScript are not exactly one and the same. The key difference is that Java is a programming language, whereas JavaScript is a coding language.
