About Care

Social care in the United Kingdom is the backbone of the nation and beyond, into Scotland, England and Wales.

With the NHS system providing care services and health services for young people and the elderly alike, care incorporates a variety of areas, including:

  • Mental health
  • Home care
  • User experience services, including patient care and care international services
  • Healthcare services for major hospitals in cities like London and for small private practices

Care services are based on social care, with many services covered by services like the NHS or private health insurance. Whether a service is considered healthcare or social care is often decided on an individual case study basis.

Why Study Care?

Studying care can provide you with a long-term, valuable career in a number of areas. Nursing, aged care, and even management services like creating a new homepage for care providers or working with a local authority to determine the mental capacity of parents are all a part of care. Plenty of skills are needed to be a good carer and working in the industry can mean you help some of the most vulnerable in the community get great care either in a hospital, in a clinic or at home.

How to Study Care?

Although some healthcare services require a degree, there are plenty of shorter courses you can do to get started.

However, as care courses are focused on social care, the training requirements are different. High-quality care doesn’t have to be health-based, you can make just as big a difference to someone’s life through social care. Possible care courses include:

  • Certificate International Healthcare Management
  • Diploma in Health and Social Care Management
  • Level 2 Diploma in Care (RQF) – End of Life Pathway
  • BA (Hons) Business Management (Healthcare) with Foundation Year

Providing great care doesn’t always start with nurses and doctors, but with behind the scenes work that means that systems work, as well as palliative care and other more hands-on care services.

If you’re interested in studying care, one of the best ways to start your career is to do a short course that can set you on the right path – check out our list of available courses here!
