At MKLC we have designed the Certificate in Education and Training course content to be accessible for all, the course lessons are self paced, so if you feel confident in certain areas you progress quickly through these to the areas you wish to focus more on. You can also complete the assignments in the order you prefer.

Work placement
You are required to cover 30 hours of teaching practice. This should be logged and signed off by your organisation and manager on headed paper. Within these 30 hours, you must produce 3 hours of observations of your teaching practice. These can be carried out in your own teaching environment, preferably over a period of time to show your progression. The observer for two can be a qualified teacher at your organisation, they will need to have at least a level 5 teaching qualification and be able to provide evidence of these. One observation will be carried out by MKLC through Teams or Zoom.
Recognition of prior learning
Some units can be covered throuhg prior learning, you will need to provide a certificate from an Ofqual qualificationthrough.
Assessment
The course is assessed through a mix of written assignments, work products such as scheme of works and lesson plans and observation of teaching/training practice.

Do I need to complete the AET first?
No. You can enrol directly in the CET.
What qualifications does my observer need?
Your observer needs to have a Level 5 teaching qualification and will need to sign a declaration and supply evidence of their qualification.
Is this a prerequisite for the Diploma qualification?
Students can enrol directly in the Diploma course if that is more relevant to their needs. If you’re not sure which course is best for you, contact us.
What is the difference between the Certificate and the Diploma?
The certificate is more suited to those working from prepared materials, whereas the Diploma is more suitable for those are involved in the planning stages, and involved in incorporating the curriculum.
Does it matter which subjects I teach, or who I teach to?
The subject matter can vary, but the majority of teaching hours need to be to groups of students aged over 14 years old.
Subjects
All learners must be observed once by MKLC for standardisation purposes. You can send across a video recording, and we will then give verbal feedback via Zoom, or we can arrange to observe you teaching live via Zoom.
