Is Change Management Right for Me?

In addition to a solid understanding of change management methodologies, a career in change management requires a broad range of skills including:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, as you’ll be describing the change process to employees and employers from a range of industries.
  • The ability to listen with sensitivity, as you’ll be working to reduce employee resistance
  • The ability to work alone or with a team
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • The ability to prioritize tasks
  • Project management skills
  • The ability to outline and review outcomes

Coaching skills are also extremely valuable if you’re a change management consultant, as you may need to share your techniques with the managers you help. They can then use these skills to coach their employees during the process of change.
