Course overview

A Level Chemistry online is an Ofqual-regulated qualification, awarded by AQA (specification 7405), covering physical, inorganic, and organic chemistry to full A Level standard. All theory teaching is delivered 100% online over 12 to 18 months, with three written exam papers and a practical endorsement sat at an approved UK exam centre. The course earns up to 56 UCAS points and is recognised by every UK university.

Duration study load

Typically 12 to 18 months. Study is fully online and self-paced, with no fixed term dates. Learners can start at any time and study around work and family commitments. Most learners spend a few hours each week, but the pace is entirely flexible.

Delivery

All course content and tutor support is delivered 100% online and can be accessed any time from a phone, tablet, or laptop. Written exams are sat at an approved UK exam centre. The CPAC practical endorsement is completed at one of five laboratory centres across England.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. However, a grade 6 or above in GCSE Chemistry (or the higher tier of GCSE Combined Science) and a grade 5 or above in GCSE Maths are strongly recommended, given the mathematical and quantitative content of the course. There is no upper age limit.

You will need to register separately as a private candidate with a JCQ-approved UK exam centre that offers both the written papers and the AQA practical endorsement. Confirming your centre early in your studies is important, as fewer centres offer the endorsement than the exam-only route.
