It’s a non-profit trade association, so you know the training is truly run to benefit those with a skills gap or to help people get qualified.

While they are based in the United States, they create and provide vendor-neutral certifications to more than 100 countries around the world including the UK. A vendor-neutral certification means that the certificate is designed to be able to be used across a variety of programs and technologies.

CompTIA provides a variety of certifications, from entry-level IT certification to CompTIA advanced security practitioner qualifications. Some of these certifications include:

  • CompTIA A+ Certification
  • CompTIA N+ Certification
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification
  • CompTIA Cloud+ Certification
  • CompTIA Server+ Certification
  • CompTIA CYSA+ Certification (previously CSA+)
  • CompTIA Pentest+ Certification
  • CompTIA Linux+ Certification
  • CompTIA Casp+ Certification

Depending on what area of information technology you’re interested in working in, completing one or more certifications will help you in different ways.

Why Study CompTIA?

Having an IT Certification in a specific area is incredibly helpful no matter what field you’re going into, as every company and organisation use information technology in the form of operating systems and IT fundamentals like Microsoft. Having IT skills is useful regardless of whether you’re looking at an IT career or not.

Understanding slightly more complicated concepts like cloud computing and network security and network infrastructure can be a real benefit to every organisation, so if you’re looking to boost your resume or make yourself a candidate for promotion, completing a certification exam and getting qualified could really set you apart.

If you are looking at working in the IT industry, then a CompTIA certification may be (sometimes literally) a requirement for you. Jobs that may require or benefit from a CompTIA certification include:

  • IT Security Professional, e.g. Security Architect
  • Project Management
  • Cyber Security Analyst or other cybersecurity professionals
  • IT Technician
  • Network Technician or Network Engineer
  • Disaster Recovery in IT security or as a Support Specialist
  • CompTIA Network Specialist
  • IT Channel Specialists
  • Working for the DoD (department of defence)

There’s training available at every level, including the intermediate level, and even CEUs (CompTIA Continuing Education Units), so there’s an option for everyone.
