Why take a level 7 course?
Due to the high employability rate and high earning potential for those holding a level 7 qualification, they are ideal if you would like to progress in your career.
If you want to study further but don’t want to spend a year embarking on an intense MA/MSc course, then other options such as a postgraduate certificate (PGcert) and a postgraduate diploma (PGdip) may be ideal as these are shorter due to the fact that you don’t need to do a dissertation. A PGCert takes less time than a PGdip and is worth less credits, but still demonstrates to employers that you have successfully tackled level 7 course content, which will stand you in good stead to obtain gainful employment.
Level 7 courses also allow for a degree of flexibility, as you can choose a shorter or longer course, in addition to being able to study online or in class. This also means that working whilst studying is very doable, and obtaining a level 7 course is ideal for continuous professional development (CPD). Whether out of pure interest or for career progression, a level 7 course can enhance your understanding in a subject area you love.
Entry requirements
Most level 7 courses require a bachelor’s degree with a classification of a 2:2 or above (often a 2:1) or an equivalent advanced level qualification. Depending on the course there may also be employment requirements such as needing to hold a management role in a business, obtaining certain vocational qualifications or having significant work experience. For more creative courses, a portfolio of work, audition or interview may be required.
