JavaScript is a basic type of programming language used by web browsers. It is a scripting language that makes it easier for users to navigate websites, such as automating app processes. A fundamental part of HTML5, it provides web pages with different functions and web applications for a dynamic user experience. Any type of animation or interaction on a web page is supported by JavaScript language. It is known as a client-side script, meaning that it does not need to rely on servers and performs entirely on the client machine. The reason why users can watch videos or load up new content on a page without reloading it is because of JavaScript. It is favoured both by programming beginners and industry professionals for its efficiency, tools, and flexibility.
JavaScript is very versatile compared to many other programming languages. It is used for front-end development, which is the work that goes into building the interactive parts of the website and the back-end development, which is managing the servers that run these web pages. It is also paired with other platforms that can boost its efficiency. For example, one such platform is node.js, which runs JavaScript code outside of a browser, increasing JavaScript runtime speed. JavaScript is also a highly sought after asset in the job market, where employers are willing to pay extra if you know how to use it. The number of jobs that require JavaScript is constantly growing as well, so it’s best to master it as soon as possible to get a head start.
It’s important to be aware that JavaScript differs from Java on its own. JavaScript is a “OOP” scripting language, whereas Java is an “OOP” programming language.
To learn and understand JavaScript, you will need to do a JavaScript tutorial or course. It will teach you what HTML and CSS are and how they integrate with JavaScript, along with how to implement code overall. You will learn how to use APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) and other techniques that will ease some of the difficulty in executing certain programs. Unlike many other programming languages, you can get familiar with JavaScript right away, since every modern web browser has it easily accessible for all of its users. The amount of time it takes to learn JavaScript can vary from person to person. Some courses can go up to 12 months, but many people have taught themselves in as little as four months. Even if you do a course, it doesn’t mean you’ll learn everything that is to know about JavaScript, since there will always be new features and techniques that will come up as the years go by or that you’ll simply come across on the job.
